perfect does all it claims to do. bought it due to the usb link and that it was pre hdmi good old scart. easily set up no clashes with the remote. great picture and great sound and no stutters on playback. Well worth the money and I let my non tech step daughter set it up just to see how easy it could be set up. was playing films in less than 5 mins.
usb divx xvidavi forget it bought one of these from another shop mainly for use in the bedroom watching downloaded videos from usb.first of all dvd playback is pretty poor quite often there is no sound unless you repeatedly turn off then on again.the remote clashes with the tv remote turn the sound up on the tv and the dvd goes back to title menu.usb playback my god this is a nightmare one day it might play divx another day it wont and even if it does its a gamble on having sound.in my opinion i think the firmware is totally screwed up hense all the troubles but since there is no firmware update then i guess this makes a good door wedge.

Basic faults blight a useful product
excellent analog capture device and software I purchased this device and software to use with my iMac and am totally delighted with it. The software installed perfectly the device pluggednplayed and I was able to capture home video from a Hi8 portable video camera immediately. Since it captures from composite SCART and SVideo I'm sure you'll be able to use it for any sources that don't support firewire or USB. I haven't tried it on a PC.
Has many uses Works perfectly and I have now archived a ton of VHS that we really did not want to lose. Mostly home movies of the kids etc.Once that was done I thought it was going on eBay but then realised I could copy content from the Sky box! Amazing! All those kids movies clogging up the hard drive are now on the Mac Mini which we use as a HTPC and its now permanently connected for this purpose!Don't mess about with the cheaper alternatives. The encode quality this gives is amazing.
Fill your iPad So easy to use as all Elgato products are so I can get recordings from VirginMedia V+ box onto iPad. Only gripe I would have is that it cannot copy HD content.
Elgato VCapture for Mac This is a good device which worked well though I was alarmed that the disc wouldn't load on my Mac portable. Fortunately it worked at home.
Analogue video capute for the rest of us Elgato's Video Capture is a simple and elegant solution for digitsing video from any analogue source. Install the software plug in the adapter and you're good to go.The Video Capture software guides you through the process in 3 easy steps after which you can sit back and watch your footage as it is imported and digitised on the fly. Files are encoded using H.264 for optimal file size/quality and can be played in iTunes as well as on iPhone iPod and iPad. You can also import your clip into iMovie/Final Cut for editing. All in all an excellent hardware/software combo that does exactly what it says on the tin.
Complete rubbish not even recognised by USB port Bought this in Sep 11 but had no time to use. Just tried to install over Christmas and found it doesn't work wont even install as not recognised by USB ports. Had it checked by a computer scientist.Help pages by Elgato are rubbish. Now seen other similar reports.Feel cheated as cannot send back now to Amazon.
Easy to Use Easy set up easy to use. Quality seems good enough. Some of my tapes are quite old so can't always be sure whether it is the tape or the transfer. I have Final Cut Pro and was able to enhance them a bit with that. Did have problem with the sound recording on some clips. It was either out of sync or garbled and had to go back and record again. Can't tell if it is just a problem when you record longer clips or if it is my tapes though the sound on the tapes when watching on TV is fine. A good product but only gave it three stars as I think the price is a bit high.
Not cheap but easy to use I have been looking for a way to transfer both some old VHS tapes and some offair recorded programmes from my digibox I also needed one specifically compatible with my Mac. I had been recommended the cheaper iCapture but I was unimpressed with some of the reviews it also seemed rather cheapI'm glad I chose to pay a little more for the Elgato. Using it is dead easy literally plug in component or scart to USB2 follow a few basic onscreen checks and then hit record the software des all the rest. After it's done it then either saves the file as an MP4 ready to view in Quicktime or import to iTunes or ports you into iMovie for editing and ripping to DVD.

Fantastic TV After researching for my first Flatscreen TV the SONY KDL32CX523 appeared on the market and checked all the boxes I required1 Full HD 1080p You'll normally see this high resolution mode when playing films via DVD/Blu ray players and other devices that support high resolutions.2 Freeview HD which will be available transmitter wise to more areas of the UK after the 2 switchover dates in April 20123 Internet TV ie BBC Iplayer + HD Youtube and loads more. I have had about 4 Firmware Updates so far downloads via the tv signal adding new Internet services and tweaks for the TV. I'm using an Ethernet cable straight from my ADSL Router which allows stutter free streaming providing your ISP doesn't have slow down problems at peak times!4 Good natural colours even out of the box.
OK but there are better options out there Spent a while researching all the merits of different televisions before settling on the Sony Bravia KDL32CX523BU. The features of a smart TV really appealed to me I watch a lot of TV on my laptop and have a lot of files already on my laptop so wanted to benefit from a TV that could play these.Out the box it was really easy to assemble and set up I didn't opt to pay the extra £50.00 for the wifi dongle I would recommend purchasing an
Excellent product excellent service. I was looking for a new TV for quite a while and after reading endless reviews I decided on the Sony KDL32CX523BU. It had everything I was looking for in a Smart TV and more. The picture quality is exceptional and it has loads of extra's too such as Skype BBCiplayer and Youtube to name but a few. although to access these you do need to purchase certain connectivity adapters but I knew this before I bought the TV. So all I have to say is if you are after a good 32 TV this is the one for you!The service through Amazon was quick and easy as ever I ordered the TV on the Tuesday and it was hanging on my wall by the following Friday So all in all I am delighted with the whole experience and will definitely be shopping again in the near future.
Affordable HD not for SD. The remote is light and could be considered cheap and using it can be a chore some buttons are illogically placed. The UI on the tv is a little cumbersome but responsive. Plenty of options to alter the picture and sound although they don't always appear to have an affect.Tv was quick to turn on and minimal delay when changing channels. Easy to setup and autotuning worked well.Picture HD programmes via Freeview are great although weirdly text can sometimes appear blocky!! Even motion was good. Bluray movies are sharp and are much better than DVD's.SD programmes lack detail and cannot compare with the good old CRT tv's. Some tweaks may be needed to improve the picture such as to reduce a purple tinge that infected a persons hair in an 80's drama! SD images often had jagged edges! DVD's were disappointing lacked detail. Motion was noticeably blurry too.GamingI use this for gaming with my PS3 and it suits me perfectly. I dont play many fast moving games but for Buzz and the Uncharted series its perfect even if it is only a 50hz set.SoundIt's fine. I live in a flat so booming wattage wouldn't be welcome. Music did seem to play louder than voices but playing around with sound options resolved this.Tv guide is excellent. Compared with my 19 Sharp it actually downloaded the full 7 days of tv shows instead of 2. And there were no annoying adverts like the Panasonic recorders have. But to set a reminder for a show is longwinded requires 5 key presses. And you cant set a series reminder!I've seen some of Samsungs £1k offerings and those units are truely amazing especially with SD transmissions and DVDs. For a budget set with excellent HD ability for Freeview HD bluray and console gaming then get this one.
Sony LCD TV with Freeview HD and Internet Very happy with the purchase of this product by Sony from Amaon. Arrived securely and promptly. Easy to set up.
Superb TV Highly Recommended !! I spent a great deal of time researching the options before settling on the Sonythe two best TVs in this price bracket are the Sony or the Panasonic Viera range but the Sony offered the best value for money. The overall quality is outstanding the picture is true HD 1080p but I would advise spending some time playing with the settings the default picture is good but it can be fine tuned to be even better. The controls are easy to use setup is childs play and the DLNA functions just clinched the deal for me.
Telly Good picture good sound easy to set up though I have not tried the internet connection thingy wireless or otherwise. That's for another day. Better than a recently purchased 32 Toshiba. Quite quick to turn on.
I was persuaded to buy by positive reviews but .. I was persuaded to buy because of positive reviews but four things made this an awful experience 1. Setting it up is a nightmare. I have a sky receiver too no acknowledgement of this type of receiver.2. I searched and search for the NETFLIX app I used love film on pc and iPad but it was nowhere near as good as netflix. Sadly Sony Internet tv does not yet do the Netflix App. I called Netflix and they said Sony is working on the UK app. Ok I'll wait.3. The remote control is a NIGHTMARE imagine typing on that while surfing the web . It's so slow and so difficult to type. Where's the Sony keyboard? Can I get a wireless keyboard and use that instead? I don't know and noone seems to be able to tell me.4. I read negative reviews about the sound and thought surely not it's Sony. How wrong I was . The sound is too tinny and feels like tinnitus in your war. You need to buy speakers to deal with that.
I cannot fault this TV Our family already owned Sony CRT Trinitrons since the millennium and also a 2010 LCD Bravia EX series I thought not much could be improved on with this model which I brought for myself. I was worried as there's mixed reviews online and a lot of people say the sound isn't that great. However I'm pleased to say that this TV is FANTASTIC and up to the Sony reputation.LOOKSWell built solid stylish fairly slim and with a touch of class to the design the metal effect strip at the bottom it doesn't look tacky the way those supermarket brand TVs do. The remote is the typical Sony 'stick' design no awards for style but very responsive and well laid out.PICTUREOut of the box brilliant but maybe a not bright enough.
No Netflix Sony support Lovefilm which has a very poor selection of films. For some reason they do not support Netflix which has a much better range of content. If you are considering this to view online films would recommend considering the Samsung instead.

A Good Buy This is a recorder that is easy to set up and use. The manual is a bit wordy but all information is in there if you look for it. It might seem a bit expensive but is very versatile and will do all that it claims. I have salvaged several old VHS tapes without problem as well as transferring recorded material to disk.
Video/dvd recorder This is an excellent piece of kit and I can not recommend it enough. It does all the things I want easily like recording and editing and I am not a technocrat. It does lots of other things too I expect but they are beyond me.
Great buy Absolutely delighted with this item the dvd on my old combi had stopped working so after looking around at other combi's someone explained to me what the combi with the HDD and the freeview plus would do. It was worth the extra cost as I will save in the long run by not needing to have virgin or sky box. Would certainly recommend it it was easy to set up just plugged it in and it did the rest itself.

Panasonic DMREX99VEBK 250GB HDD DVD/VHS Recorder with Freeview+ This product 'ticks all the boxes'. It is relatively easy to use and was quickly set up using the short form instructions. Before purchasing this unit I was entirely relying on Sky HD + for both watching and recording programmes and it wasn't my intention to use the Free View facilities on the Panasonic DVD Primarily because I live in a low signal area. Suprisingly the results using Free View is BETTER than Sky + so we've now got 'belt and braces'. I've also used the USB connection both from computer and DVD memory stick. As a qualified electronics engineer and someone who teaches radio communication I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this devise.
Panasonic DMREX99VEBK Delivers The recorder came more quickly than expectedinstruction book was detailed and only in English thanks be!thorough instructions and with careful reading various functions were tested and it all worked very well.Navigating seemed sensible and logical but care was needed for making DVD's I have already made several DVD's from old Video cassettes even from smaller video cassettesfrom an older video camera via an adaptor full size cassette. I have also made a couple of DVD's from my Sony DVR IP 55E micro cassette recordings camera of 2004 vintage. Recording from the TV was a doddle and once again the navigating menus clearly separated what function was being accessed as long as I bothered to read which Navigator section I was in. There are temporary helpful messages on screen to remind the operator of what is going on. In short this recorder delivers it's raison d'etre.
Panasonic DMREX99 I bought this for two reasons firstly because I needed a new VHS player. Secondly my grandparents had recently subscribed to SKY+hd and received a sky box with a built in hard drive recorder and I liked the idea of owning one myself. Not wanting to subscribe to sky I decided to get this instead and kill two birds with one stone.Firstly the VHS playerI find that few people here are actually paying much attention to the VHS bit so I thought I'd give it a proper review to those who wanted it. Well it's not the best VHS machine ever made but it does a pretty admirable job. Having 6 heads doesn't necessarily mean the best picture and often manufacturers add 6 heads to make up for other deficiencies in the system. However here playback is crisp vibrant and well detailed. Though I am disappointed not to see some of the more advanced VHS features like DNR Digital Noise Reduction or TBC Time Bass Corrector especially at this price. Though it is good to see full HiFi sound capability and SQPB so if like me and have an SVHS player you can still play all your SVHS tapes though only in normal VHS quality.
A very good recorder though some reservations I bought this recorder to replace an old Sony analogue VHS recorder as we have now converted to digital TV incidentally the Panasonic machine will not work with analogue signals. The specification was all that I wanted and I am very satisfied with the quality of the recordings of video music and pictures.
Pleased with this after a month of use! Very happy with recorder only had it for couple of months . . . but it seems perfect for now.I still have to transfer some old VHS camcorder movies to DVD yet so I will have to report any problem OR satisfaction afterwards. At the moment now I can record a TV programme whilst watching another now my son has connected a splitter to my aerial cableFreeview.

VERY annoyed! I bought this as a wedding gift for a friend. As my friend was moving house he kept it stored away for about three months rather than open it so he kept it and unpacked it a couple of weeks ago. He just told me that it didn't work at all none of the DVDs he put in would work and that there was some problem with the wiring. I am very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it to anyone.
Teknique DVD player I bought one of these about two weeks ago. I have watched two movies and tried to watch two others. I found you got the sound until the film started then got no speaking but still received the background sounds and one would not turn off the commentary. If I had realised I would not have bought one. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE REMOTE VERY CLOSE TO THE PLAYER TO EVEN WORK. THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE MACHINE ARE USELESS AND REALLY TELL YOU NOTHING. Apart from all that is does play multi regionals.I would not recommend this to anyone due to the irritating problems I have had and which are still ongoing.
multiregion dvd player i had this product three days first it kepted playing audio descriptive the the remote wouldn't work and now after three days it keeps saying bad disc and it has stopped working completely i would not recommend this product to anyone.
DVD Player I can sum this up in one word rubbish. It doesn't work properly and is way over the top on price for what it is.
Dies on you Well the product was fine other than being a bit cheap what you'd expect from a £15 dvd player but after a few months it stopped reading disks and labelled them bad disks despite no previous problems.
dvd This dvd player keeps the kids happy and quiet in there own spaceand is good value for the moneyThanks.
Can't See Any Problems Dvd player was deliverd on time and all boxed in mint condition. had it on all day watching region 1 and 2 DVDs. its an excellent buy for the price. you couldn't ask for more from a cheep no frills multi region DVD player.
Avoid this shoddy item Ordered this expecting a nofrills dvd player. Just like all the other reviewers for this product item arrived faulty. Seller has so far refused a full refund. Far too much hassle. Avoid this item and seller.
Died and Teknique uncontactable! This product worked fabulously when I first got it but like other reviewers here after three months it just died no power nothing. I had only used it about 4 times so it hadn't had much wear and tear. More worryingly though was that when I tried to contact Teknique via their website about it as was suggested in the literature that one should do I heard nothing back even though I contacted them more than once and there is no other way of contacting Teknique! The only saving grace was that I had bought it through Amazon.

Brilliant for the money After receiving the machine the day after it was ordered I simply plugged in the HDMI cable inserted a dvd and sat back.Remote control has slightly small buttons but it is extremely easy to use only problem is in the dark.If the remote had fluorescent markings or was backlit brilliant.DIVX opens up a new world whole series without adverts bring it on and the upscaling feature coupled to a good TV really does negate the need to spend fortunes on Blu Ray players and discs.
High Grade DVD at an Affordable price Bought this as an addtional DVD for our grandson and it has turned out to be a great purchase.User friendly easy to install clear and to the point instructions great picture quality and the remote is so easy to operate.Would throughly recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality low cost dvd player.
It's Good but It Is Not MultiRegion I bought this in a hurry and I'm regretting it. I needed a multiregion player with an HDMI socket. This has the socket but it is not multiregion and so far no one seems to have found a hack for it.Even at Amazon price this is not cheap and before you buy you should ask yourself why you are buying a DVD player. Bluray is plainly going to be the medium of choice in years to come and it is possible to get a bluray player for under £100. It is possible to get multiregion DVD players for around £20. Do the math. Either buy the latest technology or buy a DVD player that will play any DVD for half the price.I am very disappointed with my purchase. Yes it plays region 2 DVDs but no better than cheaper players I have bought in the past and none of my legitimately acquired region 1 DVDs will play on it.Only buy if this is exactly what you want.
Lost User Manual The only big fault I found was the lack of a scart outlet. The opperating system is a little complicated even more so as I have lost my User Manual. Can anyone help?.

Well priced works well I bought this in 2010 to read/write CDs with my Acer notebook running Vista. The instruction leaflet was clear and it was simply a matter of plugging it in to a USB port with the cable supplied. It still works fine after upgrading to Windows 7 so I'm well satisfied with the product.
Xmas presents gone wrong one worked reasonably well but other one did not and as they were xmas presents i was disopointed because they were for two of my grandchildren. Was so fed up that i binned the one that did not work.
The Utopia of External DVD CD drives. My Windows 7 Laptop dvd/cd drive broke so after searching for the cheapest and best reviewed one I found this. It is just what you want easily carried anywhere doesn't break easily trust me I know and does everything it says on the tin. If you are looking for the ideal the utopia of External CD DVD Drives/ Writers sounds slightly cliche then without further ado get this.
just what i needed bought this for my boyfriend as he got a laptop so small that it doesn't have a disk drive. Easy to use as it has a USB connection and there is no setup. Just plug in put the disk in and away it goes.
Exactly what I expected! Delivery was slow on my order but I think the Royal Mail are to blame this time! The drive was ordered to replace a faulty internal writer on my desktop and also for use with my netbook. It writes perfectly with both! Good value.
External DVD/CD R/RW Recieved in good time and without any problems. The product did exactly what it said on the tin and has been fine.
You really do get what yo pay for i bought this product to last me a few months until i could afford a better one unfortunately it never even lasted one month when it first arrived i was immediately concerned about how flimsy it was & made sure it went back in its packaging after each use. I used it a couple of times each time there was a lot of vibration & a fair bit of noise which was slightly annoying. The third time i got it out it did't work no matter what i tried my netbook wasnt finding it! I wasn't expecting this product to be fantastic but i definately thought i would be able to use it more than twice.
Not to bad I gave this product 4 star rating because as a cd rw it works great and its really simple to use just plug usb in and your up and running. It's on the light side and you tend to think that it isnt that stable if you was to drop it then i wouldnt expect this to carry on working as it does look very fragile. Delivery was very fast however i thought buying this product that i was getting a dvd/cd rw as it dosnt state that it dosnt write dvd's. I was alittle frustrated when i found out that it only writes cd's however overall as a cd writer it works a treat its a little gem and would advise aanyone to buy for the price it is you do get value for money.
Don't buy! This contraption worked for a couple of weeks burning no more than 2 cds a day then malfunctioned and hasn't worked since. Waste of money and raised my blood pressure. NOT HAPPY.
First impressions This external drive was promoted as being plug and play well its not! I plugged it into my laptop Lenovo Thinkpad put in a DVD and it immediately asked for software to run it! I fiddled for a bit trying to find something that would do it and failed.

A great little machine I bought this primarily to use out in Spain where I have recently bought a house and went out for a fortnights holiday. It meant I could watch dvds and play my cds without the need for headphones. The product is very light and ideal for the purpose. The picture quality is excellent. The sound quality is better through the headphones not supplied but I found it acceptable sound quality without.
A DVD Lover's Heaven I don't enjoy Christmas as much as I used to. These years I just get the basic smellies like deodorants and shower gels and that kind of thing. But last Christmas 2010 I found this wonderful electronic device sitting under my tree. The DP450 portable DVD player from LG.The DP450 is lightweight and easy to carry around. It comes with a 7inch LCD screen builtin rechargable battery AC adaptor included and a headphone socket to plug in headphones that allow you to listen to your DVDs in piece. The button layout on the player is perfect and you can get to grips with the numerous controls in a matter of seconds. Or if you prefer you can just use the remote that comes with the DVD player. Like the player itself the remote is lightweight and easy to use. Both sound and picture quality on the player are brilliant. The sound quality is on par with that of a high quality TV and the same goes for the picture. Even if they are not quite right from your POV you can always adjust the volume or the screen brightness and colour contrast by using the remote or the buttons on the player. Not only does the player play DVDs but it can also play CDs. So if you're a little old fashioned and you have a few CD albums lying around you can just pop a disc into the player and listen to your favourite tunes.Plug the DVD player in at a main power outlet to recharge the battery.
Works well and simple to use I bought this for my 81 years old mother during a stay in hospital and she loved it. She had no trouble learning how to use it which is a first and she was the envy of her ward. The only problem was she likes to watch cookery programs which tended to clash with the hospital food.
beware not region free I was given the impression that this device was region free it isn't and im angry as I have now returned to the US and I am unable to return it without it costing me.

Toshiba external DVD drive Bought to use with a netbook. Compact and slim easy to use does all I want.
DVD Multi drive I have a Toshiba laptop & when my internal drive packed up I thought I would go with a Toshiba super multidrive external DVD drive It arrived quickly & I could not get it to work I phoned Toshiba who suggested some things which eventually got it to work. I used it twice. Next time I tried to use it I could not get it to connect at all I got in touch with Toshiba again who were unable to help I tried the supplier ASKDIRECT who were very unhelpful I wouldn't use them again. I then got back in touch with Toshiba who as the supplier wouldn't help sent me a box to retun the drive it went back to Germany last week I have been sent a replacement today which appears to be working possible update at a later stage.
easy to use Worked first time with toshiba netbook which made the premium over other drives worth paying. Recommend to toshiba netbook owners.
Toshiba External DVD Multi Drive I bought this for my Toshina NB200 netbook as I had read that other makes may not be compatable. The unit is compact & works well. Can recommend.
Does what is says on the box Having tried other cheaper nonToshiba DVD players my Mum bought one of these for her notebook.. for that little bit more money why buy a cheap copy when you can have a named and trusted brand like Toshiba. It works well and has so far never let me down.
